Note: the effect created by this tool in Houdini 12+ looks different from the Fireball preset in prior versions of Houdini.
The resolution (Divisions) of the mushroom cloud’s pyro box is low to begin with. As you play with the parameters and start to get the motion you want, increase the Divisions to get more detail.
On the Pyro solver node…
-
Use the Smoke amount to control the amount of secondary smoke.
-
Use the Heat output parameter to make the plume rise faster.
-
Use the Gas released parameter to influence the size of the plume.
-
Use the Shredding controls to rip the streaks apart.
-
Use the Disturbance and Turbulence controls to add detail or change motion.
Change the Noise and Scale controls on the Fluid Source surface node to change the emission.
See how to use the pyro tools.
Tips
-
If the object has velocity attributes, the Fluid Source SOP will convert them into a velocity field in the simulation.
To add velocity attributes to the object, add a Trail SOP and on the Trail node set Result type to "Compute velocity".
-
Use the disturbance and turbulence controls on the Pyro Solver’s Shape tab to add detail or change motion.
-
Use the noise and scale settings on the object’s Fluid Source SOP to change the emission.
