PBR Hair Secondary Reflection VOP node

Produce a hair BSDF.

This node will produce a BSDF for rendering the secondary reflection of hair. Typically, this node should be combined with primary reflection and transmission components.

The Hair Model VOP combines all three BSDFs to get the overall hair effect.

The secondary reflection differs from the primary reflection as it provides additional controls for glints. Glints are sharp highlights that occur in pairs around the hair’s axis.

Parameters

Component Label

Specifies a label for the BSDF component. This can be used to export contributions from this component to a separate image plane.

Reflection Color

The reflectivity of the color components (red, green, and blue). For example, specifying 1 0 0 results in the reflection of red light only.

Reflection Size

Controls the angular spread of the reflection. Low values result in reflection over a narrow cone of angles, and high values result in reflection over a broader cone.

Reflection Shift

Controls the general direction of the reflection. Values range from -1 (towards the hair’s root) to 1 (towards the hair’s tip). A value of 0 results in a direction perpendicular to the hair. The effect of this parameter is most noticeable with a small reflection size.

Glint Intensity

The relative intensity of the glints, compared to the reflection lobe. This parameter gives you independent control of the glint and overall reflection intensities.

Glint Size

Controls the angular spread of the glints. Low values result in reflection over a narrow cone of angles, and high values result in reflection over a broader cone.

Glint Shift

Controls the angular separation of the glints. Values range from 0 (glints overlap) to 1 (glints point in opposite directions).
